The Deck

Deck Change: Wrapping a towel around oneself to change (typically into or out of a bathing suit) in a public setting.
This is the place where you can talk about the pics, the sport, the weather, and the lack of pictures of deck changes on this site.

TYR Swim Meet of Champions 2006

Patrick Murphy, Grant Brits and Hayden Jackson - Men's 200 Freestyle Championship Final

The Aussies came to California this summer to put the word out that even their young team is a powerful force when rested if not tapered. With most of the top ranked swimmers (exceptions being Olympians Shayne Reese,Ashley Callus, Patrick Murphy and Eamon Sullivan) chosing to stay in Australia, Queensland Swimming and Swimming Australia were here to show off the future of Australia's swimming programs. Both Men and Women did well with the deep field having multiple participants in almost every final. The Japanese team provided a lot of pooldeck entertainment with their enthusiasm for their swimmers and their generosity with the local teams, trading uniforms and other swag.
USC Trojan Ous Mellouli and Mission Viejo Nadadore Sachiko Yamada, in her home pool, were high point winners for the meet. It seemed every time I looked at the podium Ous Mellouli was standing on top with his infectious smile. The big race of the day on Saturday was the Men's 200M freestyle. Canadian Brent Hayden was the only Non-Australian in the final and took the race. International guest teams were Canada, Scotland, Japan and Australia. The weather stayed bright and beautiful and provided more that a few participants with well tanned skin and the reason we have outdoor pools in Southern California. The swimming I saw in Mission Viejo was pretty fast. This promises to be quite a season.
